Dear Name Here is my answer, in brief, to your question re the serpent. >From the context of Genesis 1, 2, 3 the Bible is speaking literally of a 'serpent", created on the sixth day. I am happy to write at some length to you to show that contextually this is the case. However, I think you should try to digest lesson 4 first in the spirit of the Bereans (Acts 17:11). As to "Satan" it can be shown quite simply that this is a transliteration of the Hebrew satan, "to attack, accuse, be an adversary". Anyone can be an adversary to another.
